recently I found out about their international sites.

I think it's very nice but they really could have gone wider with it. The widest breakpoint feels a bit dated its so narrow. Nice otherwise.
- <the to narrow thing is trueuan
- editorial content would appear very short with a wider site, imhowhatthefunk
- doesn't mean the editorial needs to go full width.set
- they use full background images sometimesuan

I've never particularly like Wired's site. I never seemed drawn into the articles in the same way I do on sites like The Verge. Just as an observation for myself (your experience may vary) this new site has kept me on it a bit longer and I've found stuff I wanted to read a bit more easily.
I think the headlines are attrocious:
All caps, condensed, varied weight characters with delicate serifs. A trifecta of illegibility. On the other hand:

I find this an absolute treat to read, and since this is the bulk of the experience I'd say at least in that regard this is pretty succesful. I'd maybe have chose something a little less harsh that pure black on stark white for reading, but I can always tune down the brightness on my monitor I guess.Dig this as a browsing experience:
But jesus... pick a typeface.

A little info about the new layout:
http://www.wired.com/2015/03/our…I was surprised to see they were using an off-the-shelf Wordpress theme...'phoenix'
- yes - v.surprised they would use a themefadein11
- I don't think it is that theme - just happens to have the same name - nothing like it.fadein11
- no way, thats nuts, but I checked, and yup, www.wpthemedetector...moldero
- then again, you can alter your style.css header to throw people offmoldero

yep as set said - feels a bit old fashioned so narrow.
sites like this work so well with bigger type and big widths.
strange decision to make.

Lazy responsive design.

really solid work. very nice redesign.
I also saw the news paper style. but I think it's a good thing, it's a bit like claiming that 'space'.
the supermenu navigation is one of the best solutions around and I also really like the new graphics they use.my impression is, they managed to get designers and editorial department to work together on this redesign. The result feels very balanced. It's a good read, a site you like to revisit and stay.
- I don't like the favicon, but not sure if they changed at all.uan

The theme is named Pheonix but it is a custom theme, just so you know not the same as the other pheonix theme. Just happens to have the same name.
