Anyone else struggle with this? If so, what have you done? Anything help?
I woke up last week with a numb hand sensation, it's painful to try and grasp certain things, feels like i don't have strength in my right hand. been stretching and massaging it, I'm wearing a splint i had from a previous hand injury, I've been using a pen tool for years for the same reason. Been taking turmeric for inflammation. It's a little better now but still not 100% not sure what else to do. I have a Dr's appointment in a week to check it out.
sucks.

sorry to hear it. :( could get very serious. I'm not sure if you could take break for some time to heal, that usually helps when i had it. you have to see how severe it is at the moment when you see your doc.. also if know a good acupuncturist that can help with circulation.
there is support braces..http://ecx.images-amazon...
not sure where it is on your hand or how severe. there diff levels but if its too serious people get surgery. do you best if you can avoid. not sure

I started to develop CT symptoms a couple years ago, and I fought them off by doing these exercises multiple times a day. Whenever you are just sitting somewhere, do these exercises. Try doing the top motions at a regular pace, and then try doing them very slowly, over and over again. Now, no more pain! :)

Sorry to hear sea_sea; live by the sword, die by the sword kind of thing, huh?
We'll all deal with this...
...I think this is where:
1. Diet
2. Exercise
3. Meditation/Yoga/Etc....come into play.
If you care about your mind/body long term consider each of the above on a hourly, daily, weekly basis. Make small changes that will stick in order to feel the effects; slowly but surely.
I know an old school graphic designer in my area who's near death (He's 80) and his mind is perfect BUT his body is shot because his business was his hands.
Be proactive instead of reactive is all I'm sayin'.
xo
- try not to eat foods that require your hand to grasp objects... stand a burrito on it's end on a plate and eat downwards.sarahfailin
- oh man, did you get a chance to interview him? you should interview him and put it up. he's a living treasure.yurimon
- thank you ideaist, i do understand. been working on changes like diet and exercise. was doing yoga for a while, i think the stretching will help. <3sea_sea
- Sometimes I think the way we use computers now (sitting at chair all day, using mouse) will seem ridiculous in a couple decades.reanimate

stop using a mouse or trackpad! as soon as I started using a wacom tablet (for everything, including surfing the web) my wrist pains went away. It's much more natural to hold a pen then a mouse!

making adjustments is the hardest. just the thought of having to live like this from now on scares the crap out of me. simple things like washing dishes and picking up things is painful. not to mention having to do actual work on the computer. I'm almost ready to blame my damn phone, i'm on that thing scrolling way to much. :( thanks social media.
i'll definitely be doing the exercises and some acupuncture.
thanks everyone, i just want to here there's some kind of hope out there! lol

A copper magnetic bracelet may help. Along with similar exercises to the ones shown above, I've found that it works for me. I haven't taken mine off (other than to give it a quick polish) for the past 10 years.
- oh cool, totally forgot about magnetic stuff. i've done bio-magnetic therapy before. i'll look into the copper bracelet as well. thank you this is great.sea_sea

I had it bad in the states, I had to get therapy n shit, now I just wear a standard sport style wrist band on my mouse wrist so my wrist isn't tweaked as much, it works for me.
- I always wear it:

- for a moment i thought you where talking about something like this... http://www.wristdonu…sea_sea
- People thought I'm in a band when I wear that thing moldly said...pango
- i wore it when i used to play bass up in SF, keeps the sweat offmoldero
- if anything you would want to keep it cool, not warm as heat expands and makes it worst, i don't wear it on the joint part of the wristmoldero

I have a ganglion cyst on the top of each of my hands..about the size of a marble or a little smaller...woke up one day and couldn't move my hands..scared the shit outta me..that was 10 years ago.
Now I can notice my grip is weak when I play hockey, golf or tennis..Don't wanna get surgery but might have to.

Wacom like others have said will solve your problem. Wrist stretches will only give minor relief.

Have you tried using a graphics tablet?
...haha, seriously tho, over use injuries are a nightmare to recover from if you don't have the luxury of doing nothing for three months.
Maybe try to plan exactly what you're going to do before you pick up the pen to minimise wasted effort, and do as little as possible with the hand until the physio etc builds the strength again.
I got pretty good at left handed wacom operation, maybe make it a rule to only use your phone with your left hand too.
- yea i'm already doing left handed stuff.
i'm a total klutz. lolsea_sea - thanks SteveZi ;)sea_sea
- Ha cool :-) good luck with it, it scared me tooSteveZissou

Look up my post on dragged from Casino.
It was induced sever carpal tunnel through trauma.
It lasted 4 months and was so severe I literally could not feel three of my fingers on my right hand beginning with my THUMB.
I was taking Vitamin B and pharmaceutical grade omega 3 (Nordic naturals - the best and only).
I have seen remarkable improvement, 90% better. It rebuilds nerves and the sheaf that surrounds the nerves.
I would try this for 6 months. If the problem persists I recommend surgery. It is a non invasive extremely common, quick surgery in and out a couple hours at hospital and WILL relieve your pain.
I would recommend getting an ultrasound, MRI, and x-ray done on your hand immediately just to ascertain as to what the real problem is (ultrasound is probably best). The quicker and better you take care of nerves, the better.
- Go to a hand/nerve SPECIALIST - not your GP.rabbit
- I sincerely hope it comes good for you bro. Positive thinking, omega 3s, Vitamin B (complex).
I really recommend the ultrasound the most so they can SEE.rabbit - Thank you, i do remember your incident it was crazy. Mine doesn't sound as bad as yours but I have started to take Turmeric and Omega3. will do the B complex.sea_sea

I suffered those symptoms bad in my mouse hand for a while and ended up getting steroid injections into the little tubes in my wrist.
Bloody scary.
Had it done by my now ex-father-in-law-ex-surgeon. He was about 80 when he did it and had early stage parkinsons. Apparently the target is about 2mm in diameter and is about 10-15mm deep in your wrist. We did the procedure at the kitchen table with him shaking like a leaf and me drinking a very strong drink (or three).
Fortunately it actually worked and I made exercises a regular routine and the pain hasn't returned in the last 10 years or so. Not a recommended fix though!
