Depends on what you are using it for. It can't render (it 'fakes' the light and shadows), but it looks kinda cool. You can buy a render plugin, like Final Render, VRay, Brazil, Maxwell (some don't have their stand alone renderers out yet, but soon)
It is a great modeler for simple things, but not complex things.
If you know what it does well and that's what you need, it can't be beat (simple architecture is what it was made for). But if you want flexibility, look towards more well rounded programs like C4D, Lightwave, Softimage (all similar in price for basic versions).
