    well I agree with the idea of listing both.

    For example, I have the full right to say I worked for that and that client because I did. I did the whole project, I did some of the communication with the client and delivered the final project. So yeah, in terms of saying I worked for that client is completely valid.

    However getting to that client would not be possible if it wasn't for the agency that hired you, so it's proper to list the agency as well.

    It's all marketing. A lot of people in this industry knows that a lot of people is not able to get to work for these big clients themselves simple because it's a very tight circle to break into. So if you're marketing yourself to go after direct clients yourself, then as a marketing move you would mention only the clients and hopefully land more direct clients because of it. But if you are looking to work for another agency then having the agency who provided the work for that client is beneficial for you to list.
