no other director has been more important to a 'culture' than Spike Lee.

'She's Gotta Have It', Spike's first, was a classic too.
'Bamboozaled', still probably the most difficult film for me (and others) to watch again. Truly underrated and underappreciated...same can be said for Spike's career.
how can race/racism be a trite subject matter when we are faced with it everyday? some ignore its problems all together.
To me there is very little difference from Chappelle and Lee. Lee just doesn't shower the issues with good humor. As Chappelle said, there is an huge elephant in the room...lets talk about it.
