    new year's in london is brilliant! bring lots of warm clothes, maybe book a restaurant now for dinner if you can afford to go someplace nice. afterwards walk down to the riverside, waterloo bridge is good for the fireworks.

    there will be loads of parties in the clubs, they'll charge a small fortune at the door, but i'd look into booking in advance starting soon:

    in fact, it might even be worth your while to subscribe to the online version for the duration of november and december so that it's easier for you to plan stuff...

    as for the museums, you really can't go wrong. london will be quite busy around that time, so realise that the tates will be swamped and head for smaller galleries (whitechapel, kemistry, flowers, photographer's gallery, etc.) or museums that don't get quite so much hype (national portrait gallery, museum of london, etc.) if you want to avoid the crowds.
