  I think that highlighting people's racist attitudes is fine but only if they freely present them to you. That used to be how borat was.
  For the film and more recently it seems like he's going out of his way make people look stupid without them coming to him. This is when the character deteriorates.

  The same happened with Ali G. The Ali G movie became a film for the people that Ali G was originally created to make fun of.

  Baron cohen is happy to milk his creations for all their worth
