PS colors washedout???

    could you have your colour mode set to something other than it was set to before?

    eg: under colour management, it gives the choice of optimize for web, optimize for onscreen, customize for prepress etc.

    I set mine to 'onscreen', because the 'web' colour makes the colours look messed up (websafe colours are not actually websafe under that setting???...kinda weird)

    that's one possibility... or maybe you're in CMYK mode?
