Visit Stanley park. It has tennis courts, mini golf, bike/skates rentals, a beach, an outdoor swimming pool, and aquarium and it is close to Denman St and Davie St. where you can find a decent amount of ok/good restaurants like Tanpopo (all you can eat sushi), Vera Burgers, Guu (japanese bbq/izakaya), Stepho's (greek food)

Go shopping on Robson st. There's the usual stores like guess, etc...and Pacific Centre Mall. Plus there's a bunch of good local shops and good restaurants too. For chinese try "Hon's". Big portions at affordable prices. Get a coupon on the free newspaper "Georgia Straight" for a 15% off. For japanese/korean/bbq, you can try Shabusen (Robson st x burrard st.) It's all you can eat sushi and bbq.
If you're in the mood for japanese tapas check "Guu" on thurlow st. and robson, or "Hapa izakaya" on robson and cardero st. Hapa is a personal fav, but i wouldn't recommend it if you have a child.

Check Metrotown Mall in Burnaby if you wanna visit BC's biggest shopping centre.

other places you might wanna visit is the Capilano suspension bridge (haven't been there coz it sounds boring, but everybody seems to check it out), Gastown which a old little neighbourhood with only local shops, good food and it's near harbour centre where you can see from the top all of Vancity.

Don't carry change in your pockets as the panhandlers have a very sharp ear and will follow you all day long. But they aren't a threat.

If you see a 60-year-old tall woman with big blonde hair asking you for "an extra 25 cents", tell her to go fuck off and to get a job. That bitch bugs me so much. She has an apartment near the beach and still asks for coins!!
