    UK/Ireland have the same 230V the rest of Europe has, only plugs are different from continental Europe.

    There are two kind of adapters, one suitable for high power non-electronic devices - dryers, irons, kettles
    The other kind is suitable for electronics - computers and stuff. Read what says on them.

    It is very likely that your laptop's power supply unit is universal - adjusts to available voltage (110V-230V). Most of these do. Read what it says on it.
    You just need a simple adapter then, one that changes shape of the pins
