    hmmmm... i heard that some cds come 'prepared' for certain models. ie. an imac comes with a disc that might not run on a powerbook and vice versa... unless you buy the generic os disc to instal. but i don't know how true this is.

    Yeah, you're spot on there:

    There are lots of different OS install DVDs, you can't use a G5 iMac to install onto an Intel for example, and vice-versa.
