    I'm somewhat divided. While I'm sure a few hundred thousand dead Iraqis would disagree, I can't help but wonder if he was right about people needing to see just how bad it can get for the country to turn a corner.

    I suspect the cycle of lame duck presidencies would have continued with Gore until the resulting cynicism inevitably lead to someone equally or more horrible for our country and the world as Dubya anyway.

    The fact that this race appears to be boiling down to two candidates who have stuck to their guns on campaign finance reform with odds favoring the black democrat guy who talks seriously about optimism is a very good thing, IMO and I don't think that would have been possible without the neocons becoming bold enough under Bush/Cheney to blatantly show their true colors.
