I really despise Maya's interface. It is the Vista of 3d apps as far as I'm concerned....way too much clutter, too inconsistent, too many "buried menus" I started learning on Blender and have a very good grasp on 3d, so it was frustrating as hell to try and fight Maya's interface. I just couldn't find the stuff I needed.
Cinema 4d would be a fine choice. I'm in the process of learning Lightwave right now and I'm also liking how the interface is so obvious.
