If you can wait, I would opt for the D90 (ya.. I got a D300 less then a year ago, and of course they come out with a new one...)
... but I would take a card into the camera shop, shoot a few images with each camera in Raw format and see which one you like best, and with which lens. Its pretty much apples + apples between Canon and Nikon, I just have always used Nikon, so I had the lenses... But Nikon's have always felt better to me, (F4s being the best ever.. with the Giguraro design..) so it comes down to personal preference..

I've always liked Canon IQ but Nikon feel and build-quality...pylon - i wish I could wait but I can't miss two classes in a row waiting for the camera :(Jaline
