it's a story of two generations of an indian family that moves to the US -- the differences between the father and son, differences in their priorities, culture, etc.the book took its time in telling the story of the father and then the son, and so you feel much more involved. the movie rushed through a lot of things.
i didn't think it was bad. the book is a lot better though. at times it was hard to take kumar seriously as i expected harold to show up at any point.
