    In 2006 Harper pushed for legislation that would set fixed election dates. The legislation passed:

    "Fixed election dates prevent the government from calling snap elections for short-term political advantage... They level the playing field for all parties and the rules are clear for everyone." ... "Fixed election dates stop leaders from trying to manipulate the calender simply for partisan political advantage."

    Hypocrite! When Harper says parliament isn't working it means he can't ram through his scary rightwing ideology in minority status. He wants a majority so he can ban gay marriages, revoke women's rights, and sell the country to McCain.
