I used to hide money all over the place 'just in case'*.
A couple of years back I found £300 in Scottish notes, wrapped in socks and wedged in a pair of old trainers that I'd decided were due throwing out.
* if you're going to do this for reasons similar to mine - buy gold krugerrands and hide them instead. If the shit really does hit the fan, paper notes aren't going to be worth squat (*smiles wryly at tinfoil pyramid, cast aside and dust-covered, lying in the corner*)
