    dress shirts is stupid.
esp for technicials - people who have to climb under desks etc like you said.

one of our clients does heating/cooling systems. and as part of the whole big rebrand they got poloshirts with the company logo on them.
had a meeting with the boss the other week and he was saying how cool it is to look onto the workshop floor and to see everyone wearing the same.
and he was saying that the employees LIKE wearing the poloshirts.
besides, its more of a UNIFORM (so good to promote the company) but not one so as to be derogatory like a macdonalds or safeway uniform lol.

the employer also has earmarked other items that the workers can get - waterproof jackets, jumpers, shirts.
i dont know if he supplies them or if the workers get to buy them on the cheap?

all in all, if they are getting a free/cheap easily washable and comfortable uniform to wear they are gonna prefer wearing that than having to go out and buy their own shirts or ruin their own clothes at work.

do it well and people wont mind a "uniform"
give them something to bitch about, and they WILL!
