  You are comparing your self to someone who actually has cash flow of $1000 vs someone who made $31k and had $30k deduction.

  $31 - $30 = $1
  $1 - 0 = $1

  They look the same in math standing but you should be comparing someone who is making $30k vs $1k.

  • yeah but at the end of the day both examples end up with $1, and the gov't doesn't care and wants a piece of its action.pr2
  • no they dont cause you and the 1k fall under different bucket. they wont tax 1k because they didnt have 31kJSK
