vista alone is worth using a mac. it's really terrible, and frankly, proof of the larger issues with pcs. the 'experience design' of a pc is abhorrent. macs are 'prettier', but that's really just an extension of the care and thought that they've put into their os/apps/and overall user experience.
that being said, pc's have their pros and if those pros meet your needs then go for it.
