yeah, i've had this happen. i went in and wow'ed everyone with my skillz and charm. got a call from da boss dude the next day and he wanted to offer me 20k LESS than what i was asking. it got awkward over the phone because i didn't know how to respond - so i told him i'd think about it. the 36k extra offer i got from the next company helped me sort my thoughts out quite nicely. daft eh?
point is, it was a HUGE waste of time phone screening, going in, talking to like five different people, when i could have been looking elsewhere.
but i agree with what harlequino said: the rd had a good point, but poor execution.
