    I used Illustrator 88 when it first came out to create this illustration for a Discovercard promotion. I was inspired by samples on the Adobe promotion and packaging so I used a lot of gradient blends. We sent it to the engraver and they couldn't get it to output. They tried working on it for days but it kept failing to RIP. We ended up calling Adobe and one of their tech gurus told us that most imagesetters (that were available at the time) wouldnt be able to output the file. They had custom written a RIP file to process the complex illustrations they used in their promos. We ended up imaging it to a slide but it was too late to be used on the final product.
