Someone was mentioning today that actors always do roles that they themselves are close to. Meaning that their personality contains a large part of the personality of the character they are portraying.
I can see some cases where this makes sense, but I disagree otherwise. Maybe the character is what you wish you could be, or is something you have inside of you but wouldn't let other people see, etc. But I don't think, statistically, that every person who is batshit crazy in a film is actually crazy in person. If Bale is just like his American Psycho character, then shouldn't he also be like Batman?
