I have a Tungsten band (Tungsten Link), and from everything I have heard, it's a very difficult metal to etch, form, custom mold, etc., because of the hardness. So talk to jewelers who carry it or someone in the tool and die trade. A friend of mine did T&D with raw Tungsten Carbide and said it had to be milled on a lathe, or cut, with specialized bits.

If you want a less common material there is a Tungsten Carbide that is mixed with Copper. It has the same properties of the regular stuff, but an awesome Copper color that will never tarnish. In bar form it was really cool, as a ring it would look even better.
