i can build a custom box with those specs (of the dell) for half that cost. i never purchase off the shelf or stock systems.
even if you pay someone to build the box for you, it will save more than enough money.
i recently build a 2.4g, 512ram box with two 80g drives on a raid 1 for under a grand.
you can't do that with macs.
if you factor in using nothing but open-source, gpl and/or free software, then the cost drops dramatically.
nothing against mac's at all, like i said time and time again, i like them...but when you start waxing cost -> effecienty, then pc will win...especially in small market installations.
