  I still have the old, aluminum one. The differences are negligible for me (mms, gps, 3G, video – I don't need them) and don't justify the price.
  The plastic back on the new ones looks so cheap and prone to scratches that a 3rd party case is a must.

  The old one is easier to jailbreak too. Jailbreaking gives me:

  — iFile (an advanced file browser/editor and multi-format video viewer);
  — Text message receipts (hard to believe, iPhone doesn't have them);
  — SMS counter (counts text message characters, good for keeping it short when abroad);
  — Backgrounder (lets you run apps in background, parallel with each other).
