"I know what you are thinking when you first get here, "What in the hell? Another website gallery with some links and stuff?! I'm out of here." Hear me out though. As of right now, in my not so humble-kiss-my-ass opinion the design community sucks. Back in the day (I'm talking years) I used to love to be apart of this community, but then I drifted away only to come back to a million Top 50 lists."

Scrivs issue is that he has too much time on his hands and "assumes" there is such a thing as a design community.
Such thing does not exist at all. It is something coined by people who are 20 and want to hook up with a gazillion other designers on forums, messageboards etc.

While all they *need* to do is find the discipline to learn and connect with things and people that are worthy their time and/or interests.

A lot of DTP workers at magazines etc. go to sites like Smashing all the time. Looking for quick and easy to find resources. I think a lot of us do as well.

It just seems that Scrivs has lived under a rock for ages and found out that the internet has expanded and the diversity florished. And apparently that bothers him.

    Tough luck i guess.
