I've known people on food stamps who hardly worked (less than part-time) but lived with someone who made more than enough and would pay all the bills etc...
There were times when we were at the grocery store and she would be picking up oreos, chips and other junk. It used to really irritate me, if your on food stamps than the gov't should (and has every right) to limit (more than they do) what kind of food you can buy. If they would restrict the junk food it might also bring some of the medicaid bills down as well.
