    These terms are heavily debated, given that their definitions outside of a given field are vastly similar and also given that their definition inside of multiple design fields are often interwoven (depending on context).

    Interaction design has more to do with the design of an experience in which one (person, space, product, service) interacts with another (person, space, product, service) – not solely dependent on products with digital chips in them (as it was first defined by folks like Bill Moggridge and Gillian Crampton Smith) or with screens, though these are often present in many common examples. For example, the design of touchpoints in a service is interaction design.

    Interactive has been used commonly to describe interaction specific to design on screen – thus the reason interactive design positions are almost always for web and/or interface work.

    Visual design is a often a part of both of these, concerned specifically with the visual aspects – but of course is not limited to being applied to either of the disciplines above.
