There is a sad fact that most schools have a child study team that classifies the kids learning abilities, these kids take advantage of those classifications to get out of working hard. Because of ADD, etc. the school's administration create an environment where kids do LESS work because of some classification based off of when they were young. So many kids are classified today that they get extra time for tests, cannot take off due to spelling, and they get extra days off from school excused.
Majority of the time school administration and school psychologists get in the way of any real teaching opting to be friends with the kids and treat them like babies.
