Slows is not really within walking distance of hart plaza Neither is Union Street or Cadieux Cafe. Definitely need an auto to get to those places.

You could hit-up greektown, pizza papali's is good if not a little heavy on the stomach. I'm personally not crazy about most places in greektown... but that's me.

There is good eating in the Westin Book Cadillac, which isn't too far from hart plaza - Michael Simon's Roast and also 1924 Bar / Grille.

There's a great little thai restaraunt right off of woodward + jefferson - Bangkok Crossing.

Places that are great but not in the immediate downtown area near hart plaza:
Motor City Brewery Works (excellent stone-fired pizza + brews)
    Mudgies Deli (best sandwiches downtown)
Wasabi Japanese / Korean Rest. (great sushi / korean dishes)
Traffic Jam + Snug (finer dining)
Union St. Station (lunch + dinner)
    Majestic Cafe (lunch + dinner)
Cass Cafe (lunch + dinner menus)
The Bronx Bar (total dive bar, great bar food + drink prices)
Atlas Global Bistro (somewhat upscale - excellent food and dining atmosphere)
Bucharest Cafe (great mediterranian bar fare)
    Byblos (another great greek rest.)
    Honest Johns (sandwiches + drinks)

    Places in historic eastern market:
Russell St. Deli (great sandwiches + soup)
    Vivios - (excellent bar fare)
    Milano Bakery (sandwiches + soup)
Supinos Pizzeria (new york style pizza)
