The term "artificial intelligence" is such a misnomer. It's definitely not intelligence. And the logic is definitely not artificial. (Human logic is artificial.) So what is this then? Just fancy punchcard work using microscopic transistors instead of paper and vacuum tubes? An "intelligent" machine would only speak in broken English, get some of the questions wrong, feel ashamed about it, and maybe crack some silly jokes at its own expense. I'm not sure what a good definition of intelligence would be; that could be applicable to both humans and computers. But symptoms of intelligence seem to be messiness, periods of deep confusion, inaccuracy, and contradiction. Just like "walking" is actually being in a constant state of nearly falling over. Yet we walk so well.
