I like the minimalist approach in packaging. None of those images on the dezeen site show them in any context, which is where they're most effective. I've often walked down aisles in the supermarket, where it's typically to have so much going on visually with layering and gradients, etc., and have been stopped by packaging that takes this approach because It really stands out.
