If she loves, really loves, reading, and she isn't a total bitch, then I actually think you could be golden with the Kindle, mate.
One thing better than getting the stuff on the list that she wants, is using your brain and thinking about what she might reaallly like, but would never ask for, perhaps at risk of sounding greedy for such a high-ticket item. If you can preload it with some of her favourite books, then you'd really be the hero. Sounds terribly corny, but if she's decent person who loves you and you've given the gift from your heart with her in mind then it'll be just fine. Something that says you genuinely care about her and not just something from a list that says you'll do what she asks is always a winner no matter what the cost.
