I've used a Bamboo and a Graphire, and this is as good as both of those.
I'm not a heavy illustrator or artist. I use the tablet for touching up photos and sometimes doodling or making hand-drawn type, etc. The extra size is great, although I'm thinking 12"x9" is maybe even too big. I would've probably enjoyed the smaller one just fine.
The pen is good. Slightly heavier with the battery than the Wacom, I like the extra weight. The battery attachment seems flimsy, as long as that doesn't break it'll be great. Only one button (right-click) which is good enough for me. Also there is no eraser on it, which I also don't care about. The eraser on my Wacom just annoyed me.
It didn't come with any drivers and didn't immediately work. Monoprice has online chat support so I did that and they emailed me drivers within 10 minutes. Good service.
On the binary scale (zero or one) ... I give this tablet a "one."
