As brandelec said, "says once work picks up I could be way over 50k" means absolutely nothings if its not written down.
Generally its safe to assume if you are hired in at 25k, that is your starting point and you have to work your way up. Companies generally won't double your salary once they have you locked in.
Consider it if you need the cash, but don't expect to make more there any time soon.
