    Well as someone who has followed this kind of music over the years...

    I think the point here is that artists like Bass Nectar or Skrillex don't really have much to do with the actual dubstep scene that sprung up in London and the UK nearly a decade ago. But for some reason these artists have really taken off in the States, despite the fact that they would be laughed out of the room by the people who actually invented dubstep.

    And yeah I agree to some extent, who gives a shit if people want to think this stuff is dubstep. But it's sort of like if Insane Clown Posse and Korn really took off, and people started to referring to that like it represented the totality of the hip hop scene. Obviously people who had been listening to hip hop for years would be slightly annoyed and want to set the record straight.
