I'm probably gonna get torn to shreds for this, but I do think it looks a little too flat to appeal to the general sheep market out there. It's almost as though someone liked the HTML5 logo and decided that was the direction to go. These days, when it comes to computer icons, people expect shiny, 3D stuff and it'll be a long time before this sort of thing becomes the accepted-by-the-masses norm.
Though I am glad that they did it- it's a giant leap toward good taste by a market leader, hopefully others will follow soon
