"The first time i tried Super Mario Brothers I didn't realize what the "rules" were until I had failed several attempts at finishing level 1-1. However, when I looked at the placement of the Goombas, the precise location and arrangement of Koopa Troopas I didn't feel so badly. I disagreed, sometimes violently, with them. My failed attempts began to look like a badge of honor. To see if this was really the case I played the game a second time, using game genie to keep the enemies frozen in one place. But I failed. This time I only got to the flashing [ ? ] blocks that look like a robot head."
