  i get why people who have lived in SF for a while say Oakland as an alternative, but most people moving to San Francisco want to live IN San Francisco. telling new transplants to look for a place in Oakland is like telling a transplant moving to NYC to scope out Jersey City.

  Not the same by any stretch of the imagination.
