If you're going to be investing a lot of money into a watch, you should wear it with care. You don't wear a watch like that out to a bar to get piss drunk with your buddies if you're worried about losing it. You wear it to nice places, restaurants, work, meetings. As far as them getting damaged, watches with automatic movement can be repaired. Scratches can be buffed out. They can last for a very long time if cared for.
