I would say Turkey. You can rent a car for cheap and drive the entire country using safe, well paved highways, it's just massive! The south is Mediterranean climate, Istanbul feels like Northwest of the U.S. and the middle is crazy mountains with snow and volcanic activity has created some spectacular sights like Cappadoccia. The north in the Black Sea is full of evergreens rivers and rocky coasts.

In the Cappadoccia region which is about 200 square miles there is a place called Ihlara Valley which is just simply amazing! Google imaging it just won't do it justice unfortunately. If you can set up an overnight camping stay inside the valley during the Spring where you sleep in tents with a group and build a fire and watch the stars it is just magical.

The best part about a Turkey trip is that your money will go a long way, about 1.8 Turkish Lira per Dollar. Turkish people love tourists, they treat you very well and the country is relatively clean and safe. Food is so damn cheap for a while I was making it a point to spend less then $10 a day on food and it was easy!

Then you have the ruins all over the country. Greek, Roman and Ottoman. But seriously look at some of these places:

These are just google image finds so not the best quality. I would visit http://turkishtravelblog.com for detailed info. The girl who runs this blog is cool she will reply to your questions right away. Also for some better photos check out my photo site under the Turkey category.
