My neighbor is a very active member of our neighborhood watch group. He is late 50s white guy, nerdy as hell, and a bit of a wacky busy body. I can't help but wonder what would have happened had someone like him been following Trayvon. I imagine TM might have said something like 'why you following me, grandpa' but think it may have ended there.
Who knows but I think perception feeds both ways. Zimmerman doesn't look like any neighborhood watch guy I've ever met.
