That's the free market in action isn't it? If someone invents a technology where you don't have to view ads, then of course people will block them. In the long run maybe it will lead to ad companies adapting and using different approach than simply banner ads and popups.
Also last time I checked internet isn't free anyway, everyone pays for internet usage. All ads do is support a particular business model used by some websites.
