  but tl;dnr - the women on the show ARE strong characters, however the show treats them the way the world treats them; as second class citizens. buffoons like marty hart will never appreciate his wife, while philosophers like cohle recognize that people change over time, thus dooming many long term relationships.

  meanwhile, from the first woman marty was having an affair with to his wife to the woman who ran the bunny ranch, all have exhibited very strong personalities in standing up to him. i don't see this show as anti-women at all.
