I would suggest to get a a gopro, they are fun, record amazing videos (in good light) and good sound and you can plug in an external mic with an adapter.
there is also the zoom Q4
or the Sony HDR-MV1 Music Camcorder
depends on what kind of video you want to make, but it sounds like you could use one of those...otherwise virtually any hd-camcorder has a mini-jack input, so you can get any that matches your budget.
