There is no more undue suffering in this world than that brought on by sports. None of it matters yet it goes on. I used to be one you. I went entire seasons without missing a Mets game. I recorded news highlights so I could refer back to plays and home runs. I dreamed managerial moves and trades.

I stopped watching in 1994 during the lockout period when they cancelled the postseason. I also objected to interleague play, wild cards, expansion and the myriad elements of luck they threw into the game to dilute competition and the significance of 162 game season.

This would have killed me back in the day. Even if you're a Yankee fan the seasons ends in sadness more than 75% of the time.

    • I don't mean undue suffering like a first world problem - just that the suffering is so unwarranted.CyBrainX
    • C'mon man! That suffering builds character!nocomply
    • I grew up in New England in the 80's when the only team worth a shit were the Celtics... then in the late 90's the Patriots woke up... then the Red Sox...PonyBoy
    • ... then the Bruins... Sports-fan life went from being mad depressing to surprisingly fun (and consistent!)... now everyone hates my teams and life is good. :)PonyBoy
