Just had Samsung Gear 360 Camera delivered yesterday.
Ordered via eBay from South Korea :)

Thing is bloody small and bloody amazing.

UK Samsung site doesnt have the software available for download so had to go to the Korean site, use Google translate and find the link on that site. Luckily the software that converts the videos is in English :)

Software works stupid easily and converts the videos to a file that YouTube and other sites n apps recognise. All good!

It doesn't do anything with the photos though and I'm not sure how I can view the photos correctly without getting a samsung phone and their app!
Other apps I've tried to import the images into does an OK job but theres some real ugly shapes at the join. Like REAL ugly.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and grab a Galaxy S7 from ebay so I can have realtime viewing of the camera for taking shots, for playback and for editing/posting videos and photos.
As at the moment the iPhone is just shite!

On iPhone you can view these 360 videos on YouTUbe but the app doesnt allow for the splitscreen view for headsets :( wheras android etc does.

If iPhone improves or samsung bring out an app for iphone then id just sell the samsung phone.

The photos are stunning quality though.
The videos are OK. Certainly 10 times better than that of the Ricoh offerings.

The camera output had some strobing issues when i tried to film in house yesterday with bright sunshine coming in windows. I guess the cam was struggling to figure what aperture or settings to go with?

Took it outside at night and got some nice footage in evening bright sun at one side and it handled pretty well with little lens flare and problems.

Will be doing a lot more testing to see what it's capable of over the next week or so and will proabbly put together a little video of my thoughts on YouTube.

    Thoroughly recommend getting one though!

Just hope Samsung release some iphone friendly apps ;)

    • Thanks for posting!nb
    • I presume the videos are converted to simple mp4 or something? Can you view the videos in QT or VLC?nb
    • I THINK media player might support them. I'll check QT or VLC.
      Just ordered a Samsung GalazyS6 128gb for use as a viewer/storage device.
      HAD to be done!
