Although strangely addictive it's a bit limited at the moment, almost a bit like an open beta, at least in London anyway. However the potential is massive, and I can see once it rolls out globally there being huge opportunities to do lots of cool shit with it, such as special events, competitions, battles, trading, etc.

At the moment it seems like they're almost testing the water (probably wise given the server teething problems) but as it's an app they can of course add features and improvements to it indefinitely. I'm enjoying it purely for the nostalgia value and the fact it encourages you to wander around and find interesting new spots in town, haven't yet done any battles but they sound pretty limited, requiring little to no skill/tactics to win. If they can bring in the strategic elements that made the original games so popular, combined with the AR/GPS stuff that already works well, it could be an awful lot of fun. As it stands it seems like a bit of a glorified tech demo in its current form, albeit a strangely addictive one.
