I don't think anyone here is debating whether tsunamis or a comet hitting earth, or the ice age ever happened, It's obviously clear that the debate here is 'The Great Flood' from the bible. But set is spinning the debate as if he's the only one here on the side of science, which we all know is not the case, most of us here are science enthusiasts.

So going back to the original subject of 'if the Biblical Flood ever happened'

    Set 1:17 says:
"The food didn't literally cover every square foot of land on earth"

    Genesis 6:17 says:
"Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing that breathes. Everything on earth will die."

    :19
"And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered."

    : 20
"Fifteen ° cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered."

is there even that much water in the clouds? the bible never said it quickly melted the ice caps, but QBN Pastor Rob cleared it up when he said "The flood waters came from gates in heaven and below the earth" so I guess that covers that.

    as for:
"You can't count on two hands the number of cultures that have stories of a flood that happened around this period." the same could be said of flat earth

    Support for flat earth
    -West Asia
    -Greece
    -Europe
    -East Asia

it’s also worth mentioning that the Genesis flood story was merely adapted from an earlier Mesopotamian flood myth 'the Epic of Gilgamesh' but since it was noted by multiple cultures at multiple times, does that mean it actually happened? Pinocchio is a story told all around the world, does that make Pinocchio a real boy?

as for the fresh water fish surviving the great flood:

    Set 1:22 says:
"Your fish logic still makes zero sense"
    :23
"Of course fish will die if they're not in their natural water type.... So"

    GuyFawkes 6:66 says
"please explain how the fish survived?"

Set 1:98 says (responce to GuyFawkes 6:66)
"Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. "

Fresh water fish cannot survive in salt water since they lack the capability to handle the salt intake (salinity tolerance) on their gills. Wouldn’t freshwater rains from the sky have made the saltwater deadly to ocean marine life? So wouldn’t saltwater have been toxic to all freshwater fish? And if water boiled up from beneath the earth’s crust, wouldn’t water temperature changes in the delicate ecosystem have also had a deadly effect? Maybe god protected them so Noah wouldn't have to collect them all? But if that was the case, why didn't he do that with all the land mammals as well? hmmm.

Even Christians realize this is an issue because we are not as ignorant as we were in the past (thanks to science) and as usual their response varies, here is one:

"There are many areas in the world where freshwater and saltwater are together, but the waters don’t mix. Studies on water have shown that various temperatures, chemistries, and sediments in the waters don’t mix but instead become segregated. It is possible that the fish survived in “pockets” of fresh or salt water, depending on the species. Before the flood, the fish would not have been affected as strongly by the curse like they are today, so they may have been able to tolerate the water mixes during the flood and adapt to the different chemical makeups. It should be noted that the majority of fossils are marine creatures, so most fish died during the flood when they were buried by sediments. We know that two of each kind of fish survived, though, because we see them and their variations swimming in bodies of water today."

and finally, the Egyptians and the Chinese civilizations that were operating back in 2300 BC have no such records of any flooding.

    • You are proposing that the Bible is LITERALLY true. Is that right?Morning_star
